Chapter 5 - The Black Uniforms

The groom stared at the little boy for three long seconds.
His chest rose and fell in rapid, shallow jerks.
He turned his back entirely on the sobbing woman on the floor.
He looked straight into the dark corners of the banquet hall.
"GET SECURITY HERE NOW!"
His voice tore through the room, a raw, unfiltered roar.
Heavy, synchronized footsteps immediately pounded against the marble near the grand entrance.
Two massive men in solid black security uniforms pushed violently through the parting sea of guests.
Their duty belts rattled with heavy metal keys and radios.
The bride scrambled forward on her hands and knees.
Her manicured fingers clawed desperately at the sharp crease of the groom’s black trousers.
"Julian, please!"
Her voice was entirely unrecognizable, drowned in thick, wet sobs.
The groom didn't kick her away.
He simply stood perfectly still, like a statue carved from ice.
He looked over his shoulder, his eyes utterly empty.
"GET HER OUT OF MY HOUSE!"

The two security guards closed the distance.
They didn't hesitate.
