Chapter 1 - The Marble and the Tulle

In a lavish, warm-lit luxury ballroom adorned with crystal chandeliers and marble flooring, a young blonde toddler in a beige tulle princess dress with a rear bow is held aggressively by her wrist by a stern man in a black tuxedo. Behind them, elegant party guests in formal evening wear stand blurred in the background. The camera holds a medium dynamic low-angle shot, static at frame zero, focusing sharply on the child's distressed face and the man's harsh expression before the action unfolds.
The champagne bubbles pop softly inside crystal flutes.
The scent of costly amber perfume hangs over the heated air.
A harsh jerk of a sleeve cuts through the soft sound of violin strings.
The toddler’s tiny patent leather shoe slips on the slick marble.
She hits the polished floor hard.
The layers of beige tulle billow around her knees like crumpled tissue paper.
"Mommy..."
Her small hand grips the air, fingers stretching toward the satin hem of a nude-colored gown.
The man in the black tuxedo steps down, his glossy leather shoe inches from her small foot.
His hand turns into a claw, locking around her narrow wrist.
"I didn't take anything!"
The toddler’s voice shatters the quiet chatter of the room.
Tears spill over her lower lashes, soaking into the wide golden ribbon pinned to her chest.
The young mother drops to her knees on the cold marble floor.
Her silk skirt sweeps across the dust, wrapping around the trembling toddler.
She pulls the child into her lap, her pale fingers prying at the man's thick knuckles.
"Let go of her," the mother rasps, her body shaking against the girl.

"Look at her pockets," the man in the tuxedo sneers, his jaw tight.
"She put her dirty hands right into the display case."
