Chapter 4 - THE FALL

Victoria turned at the sound of the opening doors, her expression shifting from anger to sudden, frantic panic.

She never finished the sentence.
Mateo crossed the fifteen feet between them like a freight train.
He didn't hesitate.

The momentum tore her off her feet.
She gasped in shock as her body tumbled backward onto the thick living room carpet.
Her gold satin shirt caught on the edge of the coffee table, sending a glass vase crashing down beside her.
Water and white lilies spilled across the floor, but Mateo didn't even glance at the mess.
