Chapter 9 - The Account Settled

Stepping out onto the grand stone terrace, the cool night air washed over Elena and Lily, cutting through the heavy, suffocating scent of lilies and spilled champagne. Below them, a line of black armored sedans sat idling along the private circular driveway, their red taillights glowing softly through the light evening fog.
Elena walked down the wide marble steps with measured, confident strides, her head held high beneath the dark sky. The rich burgundy dress flowed around her legs like a banner of absolute triumph. Behind them, inside the brightly lit ballroom, the sound of panicked shouting and emergency calls finally broke out as security staff rushed to lift Julian from the floor, but the noise sounded distant, weak, and entirely irrelevant.
The debt had not merely been acknowledged; it had been paid in full on the very marble floor where the Bellevue empire was built. Lily pulled back slightly, looking into her mother's eyes with a profound sense of safety that had been restored in a single moment of absolute protection.
