Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Inheritance

Three years passed.

At twelve years old, Julian had grown taller, his frame taking on the lean, commanding posture of his father. His face was sharp, intelligent, and possessed an intense, quiet magnetism that commanded respect in every room he entered.

It was a cold autumn evening in Zurich, Switzerland.

Inside the private vault room of the Bank of Switzerland, Marcus Blackwood sat in a leather armchair across from three senior Swiss bankers.

Standing beside Marcus was Julian, wearing a charcoal bespoke suit, his hands folded neatly behind his back.

"Mr. Blackwood," the chief Swiss banker announced, pushing a thick velvet box across the marble table. "The primary cryptographic keys for the Blackwood Sovereign Trust have been updated. Under the new charter terms, Master Julian now possesses joint authorization over all global asset transfers."

Marcus didn't look at the bankers. He looked at his son.

"Open the box, Julian," Marcus commanded softly.

Julian stepped forward. He lifted the heavy velvet lid. Inside lay two matte-black carbon fiber keycards—identical to the one he had tapped against the hull of the Aegis four years ago on Pier 9.

"Do you know what those cards represent, Julian?" Marcus asked, his voice steady and low.

Julian looked down at the gleaming black cards. He thought of the sunlit pier in Florida, the screaming woman in the blue dress, the shattered lives of the Vance family, and the quiet, lonely years he had spent studying in dark libraries while other children played in the sun.

"They represent choice, Father," Julian replied clearly.

Marcus frowned slightly, his dark brow furrowing. "Choice?"

"The power to build a fortress," Julian said, looking his father straight in the eye, "or the power to open the door."

Marcus stared at his son for a long, quiet moment. For the first time in his life, Marcus saw something in Julian that he himself had never possessed—not just the ruthlessness to survive, but the wisdom to choose when to strike and when to heal.

A rare, real smile broke across Marcus’s weathered face.

"Take the keys, my son," Marcus whispered. "The world is waiting."
