Chapter 9 - The Exorcism

Clara stood behind Julian, her breath catching in her throat as the weight of the lawyer's words washed over her. She looked at her wet, stained hands, then at the powerful man standing in front of her like an impenetrable wall, and finally at the tyrant who had made her life a living hell for three months.

The fear that had paralyzed Clara's chest for weeks began to thaw, replaced by a strange, quiet dignity. She didn't yell. She didn't gloat. She simply stood taller, her fingers lightly touching the back of Julian's black trench coat for support.

Julian looked at his mother one last time. There was no victory in his eyes, only the deep, tragic closure of a man who had finally cut out a tumor that had infected his entire life.

"Your forty-five minutes started sixty seconds ago, Victoria," Julian said quietly. "I suggest you go upstairs and choose your clothes carefully. You won't have the credit line to buy new ones."

Victoria stared at him, her lips trembling, her face flushed with a mixture of burning humiliation and absolute defeat. She looked around the vast, sunlit atrium—the marble, the glass, the crystal chandelier—realizing that every single luxury had become an active prison cell.

With a choked gasp of pure ruin, she turned on her heel and fled up the spiral stairs, the frantic sound of her clicking heels echoing through the high ceiling until a door slammed shut in the upper wing.
