"Release the boy."
The security guards froze instantly, their hands easing off the child's worn jacket as if they had just touched hot iron. Victoria’s triumphant expression flickered, a sudden pang of uncertainty crossing her features. Descending the steps with slow, deliberate grace was an elderly man. His silver hair and neatly trimmed white beard stood out sharply against his tailored navy three-piece suit. A delicate gold pocket watch chain draped across his vest, swinging rhythmically with each step he took down the polished stone. His presence possessed a gravity that demanded absolute submission from everyone in the room.

He was attempting to steal from the high-jewelry vault, but I caught him in time. I'm handling it right now."
