Chapter 13 - The Fire at Red Hook
"KILL THEM!" Victor roared, pulling a sidearm from his coat.
Before he could raise the weapon, Julianna snapped her leather wrist restraint—the buckle already weakened by Leo, who had secretly slipped her his pocket knife during the ride in the van. She surged forward, tackling Victor across the control console, sending glass monitors crashing to the floor.
Clara drew her weapon, aiming at Julianna, but Arthur threw himself into her path, taking the shot in his shoulder. The impact sent Arthur tumbling backward, but he managed to grab the manual power breaker, ripping the main cables completely out of the wall.
Total darkness plunged the warehouse, broken only by the strobing red emergency lights and the hiss of escaping steam.
"Leo! Get Maya!" Julianna shouted through the gloom.
Leo slashed through Maya’s restraints with the small pocket knife, pulling his sister from the chair. The warehouse was rapidly filling with dense black smoke as the short-circuited electrical lines ignited the wooden storage crates nearby.

Gunfire echoed through the darkness as Victor’s guards fired blindly into the haze.
Leo grabbed Maya’s hand, pulling her toward the loading dock exit, while Julianna dragged the wounded Arthur through the smoke behind them.
