Chapter 15 - The Unbroken Horizon

The Pacific sun was setting over Cannon Beach, painting the sky in dramatic ribbons of crimson, violet, and deep gold.

Six months after the raid in Surrey, the Sterling case was finally, permanently closed. Victoria Sterling was serving a life sentence in a maximum-security prison in the Netherlands, her assets entirely liquidated to fund restitution for victims of corporate crime.

On the wooden deck of the Oregon cottage, eight-year-old Lily Vance sat at an easel, carefully painting a watercolor landscape of the ocean. Her brush strokes were confident, bold, and full of bright, warm colors.

Eleanor stood behind her, watching the child work. She wore a soft grey sweater, her crimson hair blowing gently in the evening air.

Marcus walked out onto the deck, setting a plate of fresh fruit on the table. He looked at Eleanor, offering a quiet, knowing nod.

"It's finished, Eleanor," Marcus said softly. "Every thread. Every shadow."

Eleanor walked to the edge of the deck, leaning against the wooden railing, looking out at the endless horizon where the sun met the sea.

The strike on the marble floor, the wail of the sirens, the dark towers of corporate malice... all of it had receded into the past like a retreating tide. She had answered her sister's murder not with endless hate, but with an unyielding commitment to justice and protection.

Lily looked up from her painting, holding up the paper for Eleanor to see. It showed a sturdy wooden house standing atop a high cliff, anchored deep into the rock, surrounded by glowing light.

"Do you like it, Eleanor?" Lily asked, her voice clear, happy, and free.

May you like

Eleanor turned to the child, a bright, radiant smile filling her face—a smile that held no ice, no secret codes, and no hidden pain.

"I love it, Lily," Eleanor whispered, wrapping her arms around the small girl. "It's built to last forever."
