Chapter 4 - The Unseen Connection

Victoria’s face didn't twist in rage; instead, it settled into a look of cold, bureaucratic absolute execution. She reached into her blazer pocket, pulling out her slim silver smartphone.
"Security," she said aloud, activating her voice assistant. "Connect me to Chief Miller immediately."
Before the phone could ring, Arthur Pendelton slowly stood up.
The motion was no longer that of a frail, broken old man with bad knees. He unbent his back with a smooth, fluid grace that seemed to add three inches to his height. He stood tall, his broad shoulders squaring under the stained green work shirt. The heavy silence around them deepened as the onlookers registered the subtle, terrifying shift in the janitor’s posture.
Arthur did not look at Victoria. He reached into the left pocket of his swamp-green trousers and pulled out an old, heavily scratched mobile phone—not an iPhone or a corporate flagship, but an encrypted satellite phone with an armored casing.
He flipped it open with a sharp, practiced snap of his wrist.
Victoria paused, her phone still pressed to her ear as Chief Miller’s voice squawked through the speaker. "Ms. Sterling? Is everything alright?"
She didn't answer Miller. She was staring at Arthur, her brow furrowing in confusion and a sudden, sharp spike of irritation. "What do you think you're doing? Put that away."
Arthur pressed three buttons on the keypad. He raised the phone to his ear, his face completely devoid of expression.
"It's me," Arthur said into the receiver. His voice was no longer raspy or weak. It was deep, resonant, and carried an undeniable, iron authority that echoed off the high marble ceiling. "I found him. He's the one."
On the other end of the line, a voice answered instantly, though no one else could hear it.

Arthur’s eyes remained locked on Julian, scanning the young man’s stressed face, his trembling hands, and the stubborn resolve in his eyes.
"Tell the board I'm ready," Arthur said into the phone. "Initiate Phase Four. Freeze all executive compensation accounts, lock the trading floors, and bring the legal team down to the atrium. Now."
