Chapter 6 - The Eye in the Walls

The projector flickered to life, casting a harsh, cool blue light across Victoria’s pale face.

On the screen was a crystal-clear, high-angle audio-visual recording of the nursery, dated three days ago at 2:00 PM.

In the video, Victoria stood over the white wooden crib where baby Leo was sleeping. Her face in the recording was cold, vacant, and filled with a terrifying, dispassionate hatred. She reached down into the crib, her long nails digging violently into the baby's soft forearm until the child woke up screaming in pain.

Victoria on the screen chuckled softly to herself, leaning down to whisper: "You worthless little leech. You took everything that was supposed to be mine."

The video cut to another angle from yesterday—Victoria slapping Martha across the face in the hallway when the maid tried to take the child away.

Victoria stared at the screen, her mouth hanging open, her eyes wide with a horrifying, absolute shock.

"You... you put cameras in the nursery?" she whispered, her voice barely audible over the hum of the projector.

"I put cameras in every room of this house six months ago," Julian murmured, walking toward her with slow, deliberate steps. "Not because I doubted Martha... but because I doubted you."

He stopped two feet away from her. The blue light from the video of her own cruelty washed over her white dress, painting her in the colors of her own guilt.

"I knew who you were when I married you, Victoria," Julian said softly. "I knew you were a gold-digger. I knew you married my fortune, my name, and my status. I tolerated your greed because you were beautiful, elegant, and played the role of a billionaire's wife perfectly."

Julian leaned down until his eyes were level with hers.

"But you mistook my tolerance for weakness," he whispered. "You forgot who I am."
