Chapter 7 - The Silver Key

"She's not naive," Lily spoke up, her tiny voice piercing the heavy silence of the room.
Marcus turned his cold gaze down toward the child. "Be quiet, little bird. Your mother’s blood ran out years ago. Yours ends tonight."
"My mother left me the key to the Rosewood Vault," Lily said, reaching into her white sweater and pulling out a heavy, antique silver key attached to a leather cord around her neck. "The patent files aren't in Switzerland. They're locked in the basement safe under this exact floorboards."
Marcus paused, his eyes narrowing as greed flickered across his icy face. "Where?"
"Under the water tank in the flower cooler," Lily said calmly. "She built it before you took her. She told me if anyone ever came for the pendant, I had to give them the key... or the foundation would burn."
Marcus lowered the gun an inch, stepping toward the child. "Give me the key, Lily."
