Chapter 8 - The Psychological Fracture

Emma kicked the weapon away. It slid across the smooth oak floor, coming to rest near Sarah’s feet.

Sarah looked down at the gun, her breathing fast and ragged. She bent down, picking it up with trembling hands, holding it pointed at Viktor’s chest with both arms locked straight.

Viktor lay on his back, clutching his broken wrist to his chest, his face pale, sweat pouring down his temples. He stared at the eleven-year-old girl standing over him, his chest heaving in short, desperate gasps.

"You're a monster..." Viktor wheezed, his voice laced with shock and disbelief. "No eleven-year-old moves like that... no child has eyes like that..."

"I'm not a monster," Emma said, her voice dropping into a quiet, chilling register. "I'm Gabriel Miller's daughter. He knew you were coming for us after he died. He spent the last six months of his life teaching me every drill, every countersystem, every weakness in your style."

She took a slow step closer, leaning down until her face was inches from his.

"He knew you favored your right side because of an old shrapnel wound in your left knee," Emma whispered. "He knew you drop your guard when you throw a left hook. He knew you were a coward who hides behind a black belt and an old reputation."

Viktor’s eyes filled with a deep, primal terror. It wasn't just physical pain—it was the realization that he had been hunted for seven years by a child who had been meticulously forged into his exact antithesis.

"What do you want?" Viktor choked out, his pride utterly shattered. "Money? The Blackwood files? I have them... in the safe under the mat..."

"I don't want your money," Emma said softly.
