Chapter 6 - The Fracture of the Bloodline

Victoria pulled herself up, her eyes flashing with a desperate, aristocratic fury. Blood trickled from a tiny cut on her thumb where the glass had shattered, dripping onto her ivory dress, but she ignored it, trying frantically to reclaim her authority.

"She is a bastard child brought into this house by a woman who married you for your bank account!" Victoria hissed back, her voice shaking with rage. "I did what was necessary to remind this family of its standards! That child does not bear our blood, Julian! She is a stain on our name!"

"Shut your mouth!" Julian screamed, stepping even closer, his shadow completely engulfing the matriarch. "You listen to me very carefully, Victoria. Maya is my wife. Chloe is my daughter. If you ever look at them again, if you ever step within a hundred yards of my child, or if you even utter their names with that poison on your tongue..."

Julian leaned down, his voice dropping into a low, terrifying growl that chilled the blood of every guest standing within earshot.

"...you are out of this family. I will strip you of your access to the trust, I will remove your name from the board, and I will leave you to rot in this empty house alone. Do you understand me?"

Victoria gasped, her face draining of every last drop of color. She looked around frantically at her peers—the wealthy elites who had spent decades bowing to her every whim. But no one stepped forward to defend her. The absolute brutality of Julian’s ultimatum had shattered her illusion of invulnerability. She was an old woman standing in spilled alcohol and her own blood, completely exposed.

Behind Julian, Maya stood on the edge of the muddy lawn, still clutching the weeping Chloe tightly in her arms. Her heart was pounding like a war drum against her ribs. For three years, she had fought this battle alone, enduring Victoria’s silent tortures and subtle humiliations. But seeing Julian stand as an unyielding wall between them and the monster who ruled this estate sent a strange, cold shiver of relief through her spine.

Yet, deep within Maya’s chest, a dark intuition whispered a warning. A woman like Victoria Vance did not surrender simply because she was yelled at. She was a viper that had been cornered—and a cornered viper was at its most lethal.
