Chapter 4 - The Mask Removes

Hector turned away from Arthur as if the man no longer existed. He gestured toward the back of the G-Wagon. Two men in sharp gray suits stepped out of the tinted rear doors, their hands crossed neatly in front of them, their eyes completely devoid of emotion.
"Clean this up," Hector commanded quietly. "Ensure Mr. Pendelton understands the value of silence until we decide his fate."
"Wait! You can't do this!" Arthur shouted, backing away as the two operatives moved in like twin shadows. "I have connections! I'll call the police!"
One of the operatives stepped forward, pulling a thin leather folder from his jacket and tossing it onto the hood of a nearby sedan. It popped open, revealing pages of bank statements, offshore account numbers, and surveillance photos of Arthur’s illegal land acquisitions.
"Call them," the operative said softly. "We'll wait."
Arthur’s face drained of all color. He looked at the documents, then at Hector, and finally at Julian. The young mechanic was no longer slouching. Julian stood tall, stripping off his dirty work gloves and throwing them carelessly onto the floor. The passive, innocent look in his eyes was gone, replaced by the same icy blue glare as the titan standing beside him.
"You played your role well, Arthur," Julian said softly, his voice echoing with a sharp, cultured tone that Arthur had never heard before. "You proved to Clara how abusive, controlling, and desperate you truly are. When she leaves you tonight, she won't be running away with a poor mechanic. She'll be running away from you."

Arthur sank against the tire of a nearby car, the reality of his total destruction crushing him. "You set me up..."
"No," Julian said, stepping closer and leaning down to whisper in Arthur's ear. "You set yourself up the moment you mistook my restraint for weakness."
