Chapter 14 - The Table of Plenty
In the newly redesigned dining room of the Grand Sovereign, the first event hosted was not a high-society political fundraiser, but a community banquet for local families and hospitality workers.
Long tables were laden with warm food, fresh bread, and fruit. Laughter and music filled the high-ceilinged room under the shimmering crystal chandeliers.
Maya sat at the head of a large center table, surrounded by other children, eating a warm slice of fresh berry pie. She laughed as Marcus did a silly magic trick with a linen napkin, pulling a wooden flower from his sleeve.
Elena walked up behind her daughter, placing her hands gently on Maya’s shoulders.
Maya looked up, offering her mother a forkful of pie. "Do you want some, Mommy?"
Elena smiled, leaning down to take a small bite. "It's delicious, sweetie."

"As much as you want, baby," Elena said, pulling her close and kissing her cheek. "Forever."
