Chapter 15 - The Unbroken Horizon

The sun began its slow descent into the Pacific Ocean, painting the sky in a breathtaking, cinematic tapestry of deep purple, fiery gold, and soft rose pink.

Alexander walked along the high coastal cliff trail behind his home, holding Maya’s small, warm hand in his. Beside them, their large golden retriever bounded happily through the tall grass, chasing the evening sea breeze.

They reached the edge of the cliff overlook, where a sturdy wooden bench sat facing the sunset.

Alexander sat down, lifting Maya onto his lap. The warm evening light illuminated their profiles—father and daughter, bound not just by blood, but by an unbreakable, ironclad vow of protection that no force on earth could ever fracture.

"Daddy?" Maya murmured softly, resting her head against his shoulder as the cool wind ruffled her hair.

"Yes, my sweet girl?"

"Will we stay here forever?"

Alexander looked out over the vast, shimmering expanse of the sea, watching the golden light dance across the water like a million scattered diamonds. The world was vast, loud, and often filled with hidden cruelties lurking behind gilded doors. But here, atop this high ridge, surrounded by love, truth, and absolute protection, their fortress was impenetrable.

Alexander wrapped his arms tightly around his daughter, kissing the top of her head as the sun dipped beneath the edge of the world.

"Forever, Maya," Alexander promised softly into the quiet evening air. "Forever and always."

The golden light faded into a serene, star-lit dusk, and the horizon remained completely unbroken.
