Chapter 8 - The Echo of Deception

While awaiting trial in the county jail, Clara attempted one final, desperate play to manipulate the legal system and the media.

From her cell, she managed to grant an exclusive interview to a prominent investigative journalist, claiming that she had been framed by Julian Vance. She asserted that Julian was the one who had embezzled the funds and that he had used the poolside video to frame her after she threatened to expose his financial crimes.

The interview was broadcast nationwide, creating a media frenzy around the "Vance Estate Murders."

Julian sat in his living room, watching the news report on the television screen. Clara looked pale and thin in her orange jumpsuit, but her eyes retained that same cold, hypnotic confidence as she lied to the camera.

"He created that digital video using artificial intelligence," Clara claimed on screen, her voice shaking with fake sincerity. "He threw his own child into that pool to create a narrative that would destroy me."

Julian felt a surge of cold fury, but before he could react, his phone rang. It was Rachel Adams.

"Don't worry about the interview, Julian," Adams said clearly. "She just sealed her own fate."

"How?" Julian asked.

"Our digital forensics team just completed a frame-by-frame light-spectrum analysis of the poolside video," Adams explained. "The reflection of the terrace light off Clara's dress in the video carries a unique physical signature that matches the exact silk fabric of the dress seized from her closet on the night of her arrest. It is impossible to fabricate. Her claims of AI generation are scientifically debunked."

Julian looked out the window toward the tranquil pool. "She's digging her own grave."

"And we are going to let her fall into it," Adams replied.
