Chapter 15 - The Deep End

Elena opened her mouth to speak, to offer one last desperate spin, but no sound came out. The psychological game had reached its absolute end.

Instead, she realized the horrifying truth. Arthur hadn't been blind. He had moved the medallion weeks ago, installed the hidden eyes, and allowed her to push herself to the extreme edge until she exposed her true nature beyond any legal or personal doubt.

Arthur took one slow, deliberate step toward her, holding his daughter's hand. Elena backed away until her heels met the coping stones of the deep end of the pool. She looked down at the dark blue water behind her, then back up into Arthur's cold, unyielding eyes. The summer sun continued to beat down on the estate, but for Elena, the world had just turned completely black.
